On 26th May, Munji and Evie represented PIE at the Adsbridge Family Fun Day, organised by the Adsbridge Youth Connection. The event brought together a range of local organisations and community groups with the aim of engaging young people and families with the services, opportunities, and support available within their local area. By creating a fun, welcoming, and interactive environment, the day encouraged young people to build positive connections with community organisations, learn about activities they can access throughout the year, and increase awareness of local support networks.

PIE hosted a vibrant and engaging stall that offered a variety of arts and crafts activities designed to encourage creativity and conversation. Young people were invited to take part in rock painting, where they could design colourful keepsakes and personalised gifts, as well as bookmark-making, allowing them to create unique designs to take home. The stall also featured a spin-the-wheel game and lucky dip, which proved popular with younger attendees and helped attract families to learn more about PIE and the support available. These activities provided an opportunity for staff to engage informally with young people and parents, building relationships and sharing information about local opportunities.

Despite the incredibly hot weather throughout the day, the event saw a steady flow of visitors and there was strong engagement at the PIE stall. Many young people enthusiastically took part in the creative activities, spending time decorating their crafts and proudly gifting their finished creations to friends and family members. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere encouraged meaningful conversations and allowed staff to interact with attendees who may not otherwise have engaged with local services.

The event also showcased a wide range of activities and support from partner organisations, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy:

  • Stockport County Community Trust delivered football sessions and sports-based activities, encouraging young people to get active, develop teamwork skills, and learn about opportunities to participate in local sports programmes.

  • RTime provided food and refreshments throughout the event, creating a welcoming community atmosphere and ensuring families could enjoy the day together.

  • PIE Radio supplied music and entertainment, helping to create an energetic and engaging environment that attracted attendees to different activities across the site.

  • Talk Listen Change facilitated wellbeing-focused activities, giving young people and families the opportunity to explore emotional wellbeing, communication, and healthy relationships through interactive exercises.

  • Recyclinc offered free bike MOTs and maintenance advice, helping young people and families keep their bikes safe and roadworthy while promoting sustainable and active travel.

  • Make Build Grow ran sunflower planting activities, enabling young people to learn about gardening and environmental sustainability while taking home something they could continue to nurture and grow.

Overall, the Adsbridge Family Fun Day was a successful community event that provided a valuable opportunity to engage young people and families with a wide range of local services. Through creative activities, sports, wellbeing sessions, environmental projects, and community engagement, the day helped raise awareness of available support and encouraged young people to become more connected with their local community.
