Good Times are HAF-initely Here!

Our HAF Summer Programme kicked off in style on 28th July, and what an action-packed two weeks it’s been!

We’ve teamed up with fantastic local businesses to give our children a wide range of unforgettable experiences. They’ve enjoyed football with Reece from UK Sports, got creative with Alison in crafts, danced their hearts out with Beth from Dancing with Sally, and explored the great outdoors at Linnet Clough.

We also had a magical trip to Marple Cinema to watch Lilo and Stitch, and of course, no Summer HAF would be complete without a visit from the wonderful animals at Inspiring Animal Therapy!

But don’t just take our word for it — here’s what the children had to say:

“The animals were so cute — I wanted to take them all home!”

“I loved the dancing — it made me feel happy inside.”

“My favourite part was the cinema because I’d never been before.”

Our group of young support workers and volunteers were invaluable this year!

"My highlight was the party on the final day especially watching the kids run around tirelessly on the assault course for 4 hours straight" - Will

“My favourite memory from HAF was the face painting on the Party day, it was so great to see all the kids getting involved and painting each other, even though it was a bit messy, I had so much fun” - Daisy

"I massively enjoyed all the walks we did on this HAF, despite the near constant complaints. And afterwards, everyone of the children I asked said they enjoyed the walks!" - Rex

“I’ve loved volunteering on the HAF Programme this summer! A couple of years ago, I did work experience at All Saints Primary School in Marple, so I already knew many of the children — it was so lovely to see them again. I especially enjoyed the Friday party; the face painting was so much fun… and wonderfully messy!” – Kyla

"It’s been another fantastic summer of HAF! The children and staff have had a blast over the last two weeks participating in a whole range of fun activities. A personal favourite was having a visit from some wild and wonderful animals. We had the chance to meet snakes, lizards, guinea pigs, mice, tortoises and even a hedgehog! Some of the children were even lucky enough to be given a little present from the mice they held! " - Helen

"My favourite HAF memory was the smoothie making experience! The kids got to choose from a range of fruit and make up their own concentrated fruit shot, smoothie or fruit pot. They had a great time trying all the different combinations and I loved how open they were to try new things!" - Munji
