All Things Wavey

Thanks to Simone for this week's Blog, which is an update of All Things Wavey!

We wanted to keep you in the loop with all things Wave related.

If you are a woman looking for support and live in Stockport, then you might be able to access funded support from us through the Wave of Change programme.  You need to fall into one of the following categories to access support:

·       Currently out of work

·       Experiencing Financial Hardship

·       Living with Physical or Mental Health challenges

·       Suffering with Social Isolation

Thanks to UKSPF Funding, we are starting part 2 of our current Wave of Change programme, and are this period focused on volunteering activity – there is still time for you to get involved so register your interest quickly and one of our course leaders will be in touch.  Most of our Wave of Change activity takes place on a Tuesday morning so it would be wise to be free Tuesdays if you want to make the most of the programme.

Please fill in this expression of interest form:  https://forms.gle/tKLgLS6Ue6EbBiZVA

If you are a Stockport woman who doesn’t meet the above criteria to access our full project, or you just want to dip in and out of the activity we have available there are a couple of things coming up;

Firstly, our Walking Wavers……

With thanks to Get GM Moving funding via Salford CVS we are continuing our Stockport walks.  We will explore local spaces and places.  You will get to meet new people, get outside and do something that will benefit your mind and body.  Our walks take place across Stockport and are led via a variety of our community of women, sometimes themed, sometimes not.  We always have a brew at the end for those who want it.  Walks are leisurely but appropriate footwear is recommended.  It can be both muddy and slippy at this time of year.  Please come prepared for all weathers.  We assure you we’ve seen them all regardless of the season!

Please email beth@pieuk.org for the most up to date walk registration form.

Secondly, our Digital Wavers……

With thanks to Stockport Council’s Digifest Funding we are putting on a month of varied digital activity throughout February.  We will have something digital related for you to get involved with every week in Feb; from practical things like digital job searching, using Zoom, the basics of using social media right through to iphone photography tips and how to get creative with Stop Motion.

Just complete this form and we’ll be in touch with the full schedule of activity that you can get yourself involved in.  Attend one or attend them all.  https://forms.gle/uvsPQVRfQM4FqPAA7

Not only will we introduce you to some new digital skills, we’ll also be using the opportunity to gather intel to help us research what the biggest barriers to accessing digital are for Stockport women and how it might hold us back.  This will help us try to provide some solutions to the challenges we uncover in our future work.

If none of these options appeal, and yet you’d still like to hear about future projects and programmes then complete the link here and we’ll stay in touch with you.   Projects on the horizon include our digital research project re the digital needs of Stockport women, International Women’s Day event and as we await further funding news some potential new programme dates! https://forms.gle/7DhYLknzMm712e927

We can’t wait to have you become a part of our Wavers community in Stockport soon.  We have supported over 150 local women to date and the numbers are climbing every year.  What’s stopping you – Come and be a part of it!!

Hopefully connect soon,

Simone (The Goodness Collective CIC) and Beth (PIE: Pursuing Individual Excellence)

Beth and Simone work in partnership on all Wave related projects in Stockport 😊

Our current Wave of Change programme is funded thanks to UK Shared Prosperity Funding by the UK Government, part of the Levelling Up agenda in Greater Manchester.
