Young people across Stockport have been telling us loud and clear: they do not just want to
be listened to – they want to make change happen.
That is the starting point for L!STEN ACT CHANGE.
Over the past three years, through the L!STEN project, we have heard thousands of young
voices, building a strong picture of what matters most to young people across Stockport.
More recently, in February, we heard from 722 young people who told us what they would
like to change in their area.
The message is clear: young people want better opportunities, better support and more say
in the things that affect their lives. More than that, they want to help shape solutions and
see real change happen in their communities.
L!STEN ACT CHANGE has been developed in response to that. Building on insight from our
L!STEN Youth Alliance steering group and youth voice work, the programme will support
young people to explore issues, develop ideas and turn them into action in their local
communities.
The themes young people want to explore
Based on what young people have told us, the programme will focus on three key themes
over the year:
Work experience and employment opportunities
April – June
Health and wellbeing
July – September
Developing the youth offer and getting active
October – December

Get your group involved in L!STEN ACT CHANGE
We are currently looking for local youth organisations to host one-off funded engagement
sessions during the Easter holidays or in April.
We are especially keen to hear from groups working with young people aged 11–18 whose
views and experiences are less often included in local conversations and decision-making.
These sessions can be delivered as part of provision you are already running, or as an
additional session. They can focus on one theme or all three, depending on what works best
for your group.
Groups will have the chance to:
explore one or more of the key themes
share ideas and experiences
get involved in the early planning of the projects
find out how to stay involved as individuals or as a group as the programme
develops
If your organisation would like PIE to run a taster session with your group – or if you would
like to be more closely involved in the projects as they develop – please email
