Step Up Family Fun Day Brings Together Our New 2026 Step Up Cohort

On Saturday, we proudly hosted our Step Up Family Fun Day at MakeGood, organised and delivered by our incredible Step Up Mentor Group!

The event was a wonderful opportunity to welcome our new Step Up 2026 cohort and their families as they prepare for the exciting transition from Year 6 to Year 7. The day was all about helping young people feel supported, confident, and excited about the journey ahead.

Our fantastic mentors worked hard to plan and run a variety of fun stalls and activities for everyone to enjoy. From huck-a-duck and “pin the tie on the school pupil” to glitter tattoos, pebble decorating, and creating personalised school survival kits packed with fun goodies, there was something for everyone throughout the day.

The Peer Mentors were also fantastic at welcoming the new young people and their families. They shared their own experiences of being part of the Step Up programme and spoke confidently about starting Year 7 and what high school is really like. One of our mentors even supported a family who were worried about transport to school by helping a young person work out the best bus route to take. The family were incredibly grateful for the reassurance and support.

The energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork shown by the Step Up Mentor Group made the event a huge success, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything they achieved.

It was lovely to meet our new Step Up cohort and their families, and we can’t wait to begin this journey together!

Step Up 2026 is nearly here!

Our 7th Step Up Programme will be starting in June and we can’t wait to welcome our new group!

Step Up supports young people with the move from primary to secondary school, helping them build confidence, make new friends and feel more prepared for Year 7

From June until December, the group will meet once a month with other young people from across Stockport to take part in fun activities, local trips and sessions focused on:

• Confidence

• Teamwork

• Resilience

• Communication

• Exploring the local community
