Our NextGen project has finished its second phase! Over the past few months, PIE has been running the NextGen pilot programme, providing work experience across 5 different organisations for young people in Stockport.
We've finished renovating the garden space behind the Cats Cauldron in Stockport. Our cohort completed a range of different DIY projects to create a vibrant and welcoming space which included painting, building furniture and planting lots of different flowers. Big thank you to Jen & Joan from MakeGood and Sarah and Mike from the Cats Cauldron!
We hosted a CV and Job Searching workshop for our cohort where Caroline from Grassroots Recruitment came and delivered a session to show us how we can enhance a CV and tools to help make it easier! In the morning our cohort had the opportunity to take part in a speed networking session with some staff from different businesses in the Stockport Business & Innovation Centre. We spoke to them about how they got into their careers, what they thought they would be doing and they gave our young people advice on future careers.
Our most recent event was about Recruitment and AI and how to use it for good. Caroline delivered a 4 hour workshop where she showed us what tools we can recommend young people use to make them feel more confident when applying for their first jobs or any job in general! The workshop was really interactive and gave everyone lots of ideas on how they can better recruit staff and inform their young people.
NextGen Stockport is PIE’s inclusive work experience pilot programme, designed for young people for whom traditional placements may not be accessible, suitable or realistic. It also helps organisations offer meaningful opportunities in a more flexible and supported way.
